Thanks Jeff, but that wasn't it. There was no yellow on breast at all, tail was long, and it didn't act like a Connecticut--no walking, not particularly skulky, in a tree the whole time. It did have that prominent an eye ring, though, just to give you an idea of how striking it was. I've seen a half dozen Connecticuts or so, and the body type was just wrong. I also looked at some photos of HY Connecticut (unknown sex)at a banding station Robin Diaz sent me.

My initial visual feeling on seeing the head was Nashville. That changed a nanosecond later to Redstart when I saw body. From there, it finally got to "this is some sort of Redstart hybrid".

Now, are there Redstart X Connecticut hybrids? That might have more possibility, but I don't see any references to that....
