Thanks, you are the third to say the same thing. Clay-colored was one of my first choices, but I discounted it because of a lack of buff on the underside and because the Chipping is more common here, that is according to Sibley.
I'm not great with sparrows... yet. :)
I am changing my list and calling it a Clay-colored.
