I support this idea, but we need to put a little more thought and planning into a solution. I have been working on a project about this issue.
Problem#1:
It will not be easy to trap the cats unless food has been withheld from them for several days. Food is supplied by people feeding the cats, as you know. We will NOT get the support of these people to trap and give these cats to the Humane Society. They are adamently opposed to that. If they see traps near their colonies, they are likely to just remove them.
Problem#2:
Do not assume we will have the support of the Park staff. In fact, they may possibly be in favor of the colonies (according to information I have gathered).
So, perhaps those of us that are interested in this issue can converge and discuss solutions. This is a huge problem (there are 5 feeding stations with probably 10+ cats at each at Barnes alone). Please email me if you are interested...I will compile an email list of all of us. It is better to remove this from the bird board.
