The bird seemed to be a juvenile, so the bird's breast was buffy not gray. I think Toe was looking for a grayer bird, which an adult in nonbreeding wears. I described the bird as almost a glowing yellow in the sun, and the yellow/orange legs were brighter than any yellowlegs.
If you know what to look for, the bird is almost unmistakable.
