This afternoon there was an American Golden Plover that still had most of its alternate plumage on "Roth Sod Road" in a pool at the southwest corner of the first flooded field on the left. A Yellow Warbler was also seen in the brush in front of the field. "Roth Sod Road" is my name for a dirt road that runs south from SR 880 about 6.5 miles east of Browns Farm Road (Pranty, pg. 212) that is marked by a sign that says "Roth Sod"; a little past the sod fields that extend for a mile or two down the west side of this road are three large recently flooded fields on either side of the road.
There were also at least five Upland Sandpipers at the south end of the Kings Ranch sod fields south of South Bay this afternoon. They were in the fourth field back from the banana trees. These sod fields are on the east side of US 27 north of the Radio Tower (Pranty, pg. 211).
