Planting a variety of native shrubs and trees will work best, since that will provide a variety of fruit, insects and cover. However, some of my favorites for wildlife are : live oak, strangler fig (if you have room and aren't worried about root invasion), fiddlewood, lancewood, firebush (the fruits are eaten by warblers and thrushes, the flowers are used by hummingbirds and orioles - and butterflies love this plant, too), and an herbaceous plant called rouge plant (Rivina humilis). Black-throated blue warblers in particular like the latter's fruit.
