About it was that all took place in a highly suburban neighborhood (Coral Springs). About 15 spectators eventually ended up watching the event as everyone came outdoors to "see what we were looking at." Eli's ident is probably accurate as the bird had all the markings according to Sibley. The only discrepancy was that there appeared to be more feathers along the leg than Sibley artist provides for a one year juvenile. This bird has been about the neighborhood for about two weeks and has made unsuccesful passes at white-winged dove, pigeons, etc.. in the small "pocket park" in this subdivision. This was my first sighting of a strike and kill. To say it was efficient would be an understatement!
