Let me preface this by stating I am rather a novice at identifing and studying birds and have enjoyed reading and learning from this page. I have never posted but tonight while visiting Paul G. I had a first time experience that will not be topped for quite awhile. This evening I saw what I believe to have been an immature red shouldered hawk pound a pigeon into the ground and than carry its kill to a pine tree and proceed to have dinner. I suppose it is not very nice to delight in another creatures demise but it certainly was a thrill to see the unfolding of this action adventure!
