The second photo seems to definitely be a female Needham's Skimmer. There were lots of them at Bill Sadowski Park on Saturday, March 25th along with a few males. Among the many dragonflies present were some Regal Darners(they sure are big). Most of the dragonflies were Halloween Pennants, but there were several Blue Dragonets around also.
25+ Black Vultures were standing on the north bank of the canal opposite the exit to the Nature Trail. We were after butterflies(and saw almost 20 species there), but the bird life was thin saturday morning.
