The dragonfly is either a female Needham's Skimmer (Libellula needhami) or a Golden-winged Skimmer (Libellula auripennis). The former is the more abundant (in my experience), but given that both females look very much alike, and that the best field mark to them apart is obscured in your photos by its wing, we can't dismiss the latter. Males are reddish in color. Hope all is well, keep up the great work.
