A nice group of eight birders joined me today at the Enchanted Forest Park in North Miami for the first TAS Bird Walk of the spring migration season. It was a very slow morning for migrants, but we did manage to observe seven warblers: Black-throated Blue Warbler (2), Black and White Warbler (3), Magnolia Warbler (1), Common Yellowthroat (2), Northern Parula Warbler (2), Northern Waterthrush (1), and American Restart (1). A total of 15 species were observed including many Northern Cardinals, and several singing N. Catbirds. A pair of Blue-headed Parakeets gave the group nice looks as they preened each other outside their nest cavity in a Live Oak. Hopefully spring migration will start picking up soon, but it is always nice to be out in the parks for a morning of birding, and exploring nature. Thanks to all that participated on the walk today.
