We saw at least one after 5 pm. It also crossed the parking lot's back side while people were peering in from the trail and lot, with a patient "lot watcher" getting the best views. If quiet, those with good ears will hear the bird walking often before seeing it. You will see that the dry habitat in the lot and it's back side where they are is a fairly small area. Best bet is to stay in the lot or trail entrance and wait quietly.
