Hey all,
On 12/16, I heard and recorded an Empidonax flycatcher species in Everglades National Park that I believe could be either Acadian or Yellow-bellied. I heard the bird calling from a low perch along the Old Ingraham Highway (which is actually a wide grassy path here), but it was too deep in the undergrowth to get a visual. From the Anhinga Trail/Royal Palm parking lot, walk down Old Ingraham Trail as it begins between the two entrances to the Gumbo Limbo Trail loop. Before you reach the intersection of Old Ingraham and the paved Gumbo Limbo Trail is the location where I heard the bird vocalizing on the south side of Old Ingraham. Since my phone was dead, I recorded video on my SLR to capture the audio.
Several birders have given me their input, and I've gotten a mixed bag of suggestions. Either species would be rare here in the winter, and Yellow-bellied in Florida is always special. Acadian winters in South America, while Yellow-bellied winters as close as the Yucatan Peninsula.

I nominate Toe to be the one to go out and who confirm the occurrence of a Neotropical bird possibly wintering in Florida.
