Crandon Beach banded Piping Plovers

The flock of 28-32 Piping Plovers on Crandon Beach now includes 10 banded birds. Joel, Hans, Otto, Rangel and I have photographed all the banded birds. Banding origins are:

Great Lakes: 5 birds, including females returning for 2nd, 3rd and 6th winters; and 2 birds banded as chicks in June 2014

North Dakota (Missouri River): 1 bird spending its 2nd winter here

South Dakota (Lake Oahe): 1 bird

Nebraska (Lower Platte River): 1 bird spending its 2nd winter here

New York (Fire Island National Seashore): 2 birds banded by Virginia Tech researchers
