TO me, more hotspots is helpful, because it lets me know where things actually are. For instance, Bahia Honda State Park has one hotspot, but is actually a rather large area. Also, I read on the e-bird how to use/enter data site, that the more specific and exact an entry is to location, the more helpful it is. I am not sure how making data less specific is helpful. Usually, more specific data yields more accurate results to research. And with Shark Valley, the place at the tower at the end is a different ecology than the start of the entrance, and is also seven miles away. A lot of the ebird stuff says try to specify within 5 miles or less.
I can see why convenience matters may make things compelling to reduce, but accuracy and convenience are never friends anyway. Thus I perceive the matter; I mean no attack to anyone. I am a nurse, and am trained in research, though not quite in this aspect. I can see why maybe in some cases cleanup could be quite useful, I just am saying that it seems that we need to be careful.
