Quoddy Head has the distinction of being the easternmost point in the US and is supposed to be a great birding spot. I had planned to travel up there this summer while in Maine, but other things got in the way (it's a LONG way from anywhere).
More to the point, the Robins stay there due to the huge crop of winter berries and is an example of birds' migration being influenced by resource availabilty, as opposed to temperature. I'm surprised that in the other threads on this topic that nobody mentioned the conversion of ag lands south of the Lake from mixed-crop to sugar monoculture as a factor that would disrupt migrants from continuing southward. Just a thought.
