Birding after work today near sundown at Wakodahatchee spotted a small teal-like duck mixing with a group of Green-winged teal. This small duck (roughly the size of the other teal) has a blue bill with dark tip, pale buff cheeks, dark lateral crown stripe (dark green?), white neck ring, mottled golden breast, pale gray flanks, cinnamon wing coverts, green and white speculum, tan back, black and white tail, orange feet. Further searching via internet back points this to be a Ringed Teal, Callonetta leucophrys. I see that it is listed as introduced in North America; any chance it flew up from its native South America with the green-winged? Any information about this species in Florida would be appreciated. Thanks, Chris Nevins
