: Did AZ in 03, and can't wait to go back! Saw 13 out of the possible fifteen species. I had a lot of other species, but the hummers as a group were my favorite. It was when I got back that I started putting a feeder in my yard. You're right, it will turn you into a hummer nut. I stayed two days at the Beatty's place near Miller Canyon, and this is hummingbird central. I can't expect the same down here, but a Ruby-throat once in a while with a potential rarity would be nice. I'll put my feeder out again. Hopefully I will have better results now that my Coral Bean is blooming, and my firebush and porterweed have spread. Thanks, and enjoy the hummers!
Put out several feeders. I think they see them better, and if the nectar spills out, ( the wind blows them around), then there will still be another feeder with nectar. You may find the spot breasted orioles feeding as well!
Dont' forget the hibiscus, they love that and it gets them into your yard.
Enjoy!
