I'm not convinced that Cooper's Hawks were entirely the cause. Anis were reliably found in areas where Cooper's Hawks were not, such as the EAA in Palm Beach, and they seem to have disappeared from there as well. The explosion of Cooper's Hawks has occurred mostly in the suburbs, and is attibuted mostly to the increase in populations of Collared Doves, aka Purina Hawk Chow.
