Went out west on the trail today hoping to see my first bluebird.
Stopped at Kirby Storter and was pleased to see the pair of pileated woodpeckers as well as 2-3 downy woodpeckers and a flicker. several warbler types too. found my first bluebird in the parking lot. woohoo!
then went to turner river road and saw 5 turkeys in the first driveway on the left. lots of waders too.Snowies are everywhere on the trail. One glossy ibis too.
Wandered about , up 49 then down to Everglades city where the snowbirds are flocking in a big way.
Back to Kirby Storter to find 4 bluebirds this time.
Found a fox squirrel by the roadside and stopped and took his picture as he ate a tillandsia for me.another first for me.
Stopped at Shark River to peer at the Blue Heron and her babies.
Then decided to head back home while it was still light.Approaching Cooperstown a snail kite flew up above the canal. Wow another first!
Only bummer of the day was a fresh dead otter near Krome and the Trail.
