Birders: Prime birding season in Everglades National Park is approaching but most of the trails in the park are becoming inaccessible due to benign neglect. ENP is a national park with publically accessible areas but trails designated as hiking on the Pinelands map are now neglected and overgrown. Old Ingraham Highway is also not maintained. Perhaps the park administration is unaware that these trails (many on Long Pine Key) are used by birders from November-April.

The fishing community seems successful using a unified voice to express concerns to ENP administration. If members of the birding community wish to contact ENP, the address is:

Superintendent, ENP
40001 SR 9336
Homestead, FL 33034-6733

There is also an email form available on the ENP website.
