Due to budget cuts NPS-wide, there are not enough maintenance staff to maintain roads and not enough law enforcement to patrol. During summer, there is only a skeleton staff. Seasonal employees are hired for winter months only, and again due to budget cuts, there are fewer hired. Chekika has been closed down for this reason. Don't blame the park --it is not their fault. Blame your elected officials in Congress. That's who you need to be calling.
