Dear All: Thanks to Rangel, Larry, Brandon and Smith for their reports on the Black-Bellied Whistling Ducks standing on wires at Lucky Hammock. After not having any luck looking for Barred Owls or Brown Thrashers at Research Road or Anhinga Trail yesterday, I was telling the family about the ducks on the way out of Everglades National Park when there one was, a duck on the wire right in front of the hammock! We later located a second farther down the road. They were the first we've in Dade, and the best looks we've gotten at Black-Bellied Whistling Ducks. We were also able to confirm their id to a birder from the Keys who happened to stop by. Best regards.
