I took my boat over to Snake Bight Channel to see the American Flamingos that have been present for over a month or so. They were seen a little west of Gibby Point standing on the shore preening. A little later they moved into the water and started feeding. A Peregrine Falcon scared all of the shorebirds and terns present which caused the flamingos to fly a short distance. There were many Forester's Tern, Royal Tern and Caspian Tern, the previous week when I was there, I had Gull-billed Tern. The American Flamingos are perhaps 1/3 of a mile from Snake Bight channel. The only way that you can see them is by boat or canoe/kayak.
There were lots of shorebirds present at the east end of the tent campground in Flamingo along with hoards of mosquitoes! There is a flooded area behind the restroom area near the Amphitheater where the birds were seen.
