About 12 birders joined me for the Matheson Hammock Birdwalk this morning. Birding was on the slow side, and many of the migrants were quiet, but we still managed to find some nice birds. Highlights included Yellow-crowned Night-Heron, American Kestrel, Yellow-chevroned Parakeet, Orange-winged Amazon-Parrot, Yellow-throated and Red-eyed Vireos, Brown Thrasher, and six warbler species: Ovenbird, Louisiana Waterthrush (fine looks near puddles on the service road), male American Redstart, Northern Parula, female Black-throated Blue Warbler, and Prairie Warbler. A poorly seen bird may have been a seventh warbler species, Worm-eating Warbler.
