The monthly bird walks at Tall Cypress Natural Area in Coral Springs (north Broward) kick off again this Sunday, Sep 6 at 8:00 am (note later start time). The walks will be held on the first Sunday of each month, September through June. There is no charge and no registration is required. SFAS has graciously included these in their Calendar of Events, which contains a link to the park web site with directions, etc. As in the past, the walk will be in two segments (each approx. 90 min): the first segment will cover the boardwalk and areas around the parking lot and is fully accessible; the second segment will cover the northern and western perimeter, as well as some of the interior of the park. Much of this will be on soft, uneven terrain and is probably not appropriate for those with significant physical limitations or for very young children. Some of the early migrants have been starting to show up this week, including a small flock of Eastern Kingbird. At least one Great Horned Owl is around, as are the Flickers and Pileated Woodpeckers. I hope to see you there!
