Can a Great Crested Flycatcher be all gray? I only ask because the other day walking near the Normandy Isle Golf Club my wife and I saw a large myiarchus flycatcher that was all gray. Its underside was white, but head and back were completely gray. There was no rufous tail feathers, but some pale or white edges from the back down to the tail. I assume the most logical bird would be a great crested, but it was all gray like a La Sagra's (which I am certain it was not). Is this common to find one without any yellow at all? Of course we have no photos, but we got great looks and there wasn't a lick on yellow anywhere on the bird. It had a very long bill and kind of a bushy head. I'm stumped and thought someone here could help.
