This Saturday at Green Cay, saw a small yellow-green flash of color by the purple martin feeders just past the alligator pond, south side. After snapping some shots and zooming in to see what it was, identified it as a mostly yellow budgie, sitting in the tree just behind the martin houses. The martins were very upset at him, buzzing and chasing, and then he'd get chased out of the tree by very aggressive red-winged blackbird males who would chase him all over the skies at high speed, until he circled back to the tree, getting the martins back in on the action. None of the birds seemed particularly inviting of the budgie...watched him get buzzed and chased for 20 minutes...but he wasn't giving up on the spot. Those are my first photos of a budgie in the wild - whether it's a very recent escapee or one that's been surviving for a while, I don't know. I recall a few weeks back someone else asking about a budgie ID spotted in Boynton, so this could well be the same bird.
