Once again, wood ducks have nested at Hoechoka Hammock and three ducklings are in the company of mother duck. They are appearing every morning at the feeding station and during the day hug the canal shore line at the south, east and west end. The ducklings appear to be 7 days old and we have no idea where they are nesting. Could they be ground nesting for lack of hollow trees and nesting boxes? Photographers please note, this is a 400 mm op and school is in session for 4 more days. No pictures available since my camera equipment is still in Montana. Also a green heron f/k/a little green heron and green-back heron has nested successfully at the south canal.
