On February 17, 2018, the Carolina Chickadee was watched between 12:35 PM and 1:05 PM. It lingered and returned to an oak tree with Spanish moss, sometimes hanging upside-down, to catch worms from the dangling moss. It was spotted due to stopping to watch an Ovenbird walking under oak trees. Thank you to Chuck Weber, the field trip leader for Audubon Society of the Everglades, who found this bird on October 8, 2018. Since then, it has continued in Frenchman's Forest Nature Preserve. Directions: From the parking lot, take the concrete sidewalk trail to marker number 6. Ahead on the right, beside a sand trail, is a sign with a yellow arrow pointing to the boardwalk. Turn right onto the sand trail toward the boardwalk, pass a trail that forks left, and turn right where there is a blue marker identifying another trail. After the wet area of the blue trail, the Carolina Chickadee was seen in various trees primarily on the right (South side) where a street of houses can be seen through the trees.
