Surf Scoters at Lowdermilk Beach Park, Collier County

Up to eleven surf scoters are being observed just off the shore at Lowdermilk Beach Park in Collier County. They have been observed for the past week by several people including tonight. The birds were easily viewed with just binoculars tonight. One bird was an adult male; the rest females or immatures. The throngs of beachgoers haven't scared off the ducks which just remain far enough away to avoid the crowd.
