This has been an incredible winter and spring for Caribbean vagrants in Florida. Last year, the FOSRC added several species to the Review List because we changed the criteria for removing species from review (new threshold; 20 records in past the 10 years). The Committee felt that it was important to better monitor rare species in the State, especially species from Bahamas and Cuba that do not occur elsewhere in the ABA Area. Among those species added were Key West Quail Dove, Bananaquit, Bahama Mockingbird, Western Spindalis, and La Sagra’s Flycatcher. Rare species (Cuban Vireo, Loggerhead Kingbird, Zenaida Dove, Thick-billed Vireo, Cuban Pewee) have always been on the review list. Looking through eBird, many of the birds that have shown up in the past few months have not been submitted to the FOSRC. It would be great if these would get submitted, especially if photos were taken. Anyone can submit, not just the original discoverers. It only takes a few minutes. Ignore the error message generated; I can still receive them.
