Approximately 25 enthusiastic birders- experts and novices alike- participated in the TAS walk at AD Barnes Park on Saturday. The weather was good, although the birding started slow. Near the south hammock we ran into a small group of birds feeding high in the vines that remained frustratingly difficult to see well, including singing American Redstart and Gray Catbird. Not so difficult were a pair of Blue-and-yellow Macaws which flew noisily through open sky, providing great looks for everyone. We also had great looks at a pair of obliging Cooper’s Hawks! Near the end of the trip, we hit another small group of warblers including a female Blackpoll Warbler, and a pair of Black-throated Blue Warblers. The walk concluded about 10:45, with 29 species tallied, including 8 warblers. Thanks to everyone for joining the walk!
