Tom Auer discovered and identified a Yellow-bellied Flycatcher this morning at Deering Estate. His eBird checklist is linked below, including 2 photos and a recording. Tom is a GIS developer for Cornell Ornithology Lab and confirmed the ID with other Cornell Lab staff. Marshall Iliff says that while the "...photos are suggestive, they are not diagnostic..." but the "recording is diagnostic." If you listen to the 3rd call on the recording, it's spot-on. When analyzed, the most similar song of a Cuban Pewee registers 5000 Hz on the spectrogram, while Yellow-bellied Flycatcher registers 4000 Hz. Tom first saw the flycatcher from the "People's Dock" and the bird flew north into the walled area of Deering Estate. Birders are currently looking. Thanks to Tom for finding/reporting and thanks to Marshall for confirming.
