A dozen birders - novices to experts - joined me for a winter walk at AD Barnes this morning. Under breezy conditions, early arrivers were treated to a nice fly-by of a Blue-and-yellow Macaw. Once the walk got going, we had an excellent few hours walk, tallying 11 species of warbler, 3 species of vireo, and all 3 morphs of Short-tailed Hawk: light, dark, and intermediate. We also got excellent looks at White-crowned Pigeon and some very obliging Eastern Phoebes. The day's total was 35 species, very respectable for an heavily used, inland semi-urban park. This was a rare winter local park walk, but hopefully we will be able to schedule more of these in the future! Thanks to everyone for turning out!
