The ENP Brown-crested Flycatcher can be found in the general area marked on the Google Earth map. It seems to get quiet during midday so early or late is best. ENP has a policy of no tapes or playback but this bird is fairly vocal when it's around and calls with a quick "whip." Two Brown-crested Flycatchers can also be found along the Southern Glades Trail (C-111E Canal). Walk south along the path and after ~1/2 mile, listen for the call. This trail begins approximately across from SW 207 Avenue. Black Rail can also be heard in the general area marked on the Google Earth map. Early morning or early evening is best. This bird is rarely seen but calls, many times using its "growl" vocalization. The Coastal Prairie Trail birds are easier to see and again, very early is best. Reminder that the ENP policy is no tapes or playback.
