The Common Eider found by Miriam was seen yesterday about 11:30 by channel marker number 12. This is north of the mangrove island northwest of the Crandon Marina. Park in the northwest part of the parking lot and scan towards marker 12. A scope is very helpful! At Crandon Park the Western Spindalis reported by Shane was still present. Miriam came not long after I got there and also got great views. From the South Beach parking lot at the south end, take the paved road/path towards the beach. There are trees in the median like area where the spindalis was seen. There does not seem to be much fruit in this area so I don't think that the spindalis will stay much longer.
