Late this afternoon at around 6:00pm I found a Whimbrel at the North end of Crandon beach past the first lifeguard tower. The bird was feeding and associating with a large flock of Sanderlings and was cooperative and easily approachable. Early September last year I had a flock of nine American Avocets in the same location sitting on a sandbar.
