Kendall Square Wetlands eBird Checklist
The Kendall Square Wetlands on N Kendall Drive, a tiny plot of wetland sandwiched between the Shoppes of Paradise Lakes on SW 167th Ave and the Kendall Square Development to the west, seems to be attracting more and more shorebirds. It is a classic shorebird migrant trap. With no other place to go, the number of migratory shorebirds at this tiny site is pretty impressive. Too bad it is slated for development. Here is what I had today: Least Sandpiper (45) Pectoral Sandpiper (18) Semipalmated Sandpiper (3) Long-billed Dowitcher (4) Solitary Sandpiper Greater Yellowlegs (4) Lesser Yellowlegs (18) The site has also attracted Killdeer, Spotted Sandpiper, and Black-necked Stilt within the last couple weeks. Something unusual might pop in, so it is worth keeping an eye on... Carlos
