A couple days ago Hurricane Newton went up the west coast of Mexico and straight up the Sea Of Cortez and into Arizona. Along with wind and rain, the storm also brough with it a bunch of good birds, inlcuding pelagics. As many as 33 Wedge-rumped Storm-Petrels and 7 Least Storm-Petrels plus a Wedge-tailed Shearwater have been seen. People were getting pelagic birds in local ponds and even from their yards. But the best is probably a Juan Fernandez Petrel photographed as a yard bird as it flew fly. If it is in fact this species, this would be an ABA first! How's that for a yard bird: a pelagic species in a landlocked state. You can read more and see the photos at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/ABArare/
