This morning I checked a field adjacent to C111 canal I had walked earlier in the winter that seemed promising. There were a ton of sparrows there. I counted 70+ Savannah Sparrows, 20+ Grasshopper Sparrows, and a group of 8-10 Clay-colored Sparrows at the NE corner of the field. There was also a couple of Blue Grosbeaks and a White-tailed Kite hovering over the field. To reach the field, walk North from 9336 along the West side of the canal for a about a half-mile until you reach a yellow metal pole. Take the two-track that cuts west through the weeds until it opens up to the field. There is a two-track that runs along the perimeter of the field and this is the best place to see the sparrows.
