I spent a very pleasant morning and early afternoon birding South Palm Beach County. There was at least one Neotropical Cormorant with young at Wakodahatchee Wetlands. Black-bellied Whistling Ducks and Gray-headed Swamphens were also both numerous and conspicuous. An American Bittern was found just east of the visitor center at Green Cay, while a flock of Cedar Waxwings was gobbling down figs along the marsh trail. Two Smooth-billed Anis were seen from the levee about half a mile south of Lee Road in Loxahatchee NWR. Two downy Great Horned Owl chicks were seen about .2 mile south of the parking lot for the Marsh Trail. Limpkins were everywhere.
