This morning, I led a group of 17 birders (ranging from experienced to first-timers) on a walk along the Ludlam Trail, from its southern terminus near Dadeland Station to just north of Miller Drive. Joining me today was TAS President Joe Barros, Diana Jaramillo from Friends of Ludlam Trail (FOLT) and Francois Ilias and his wife. Francois is a Vice President with Florida East Coast Industries (FECI), who is working with Friends of Ludlam Trail to open to the public this wonderful urban greenway. I'd like to thank both FOLT and FECI for making this walk possible; we look forward to many more bird walks along the trail in the future. During the walk, I entered the following into eBird for this weekend's Great Backyard Bird Count: 1 Indian Peafowl 1 Great Blue Heron 1 Cattle Egret 45 White Ibis 1 Black Vulture 20 Turkey Vulture 1 Osprey 2 Cooper's Hawk 1 Red-shouldered Hawk 40 Ring-billed Gull 1 Rock Pigeon 6 Eurasian Collared-Dove 5 Mourning Dove 1 Ruby-throated Hummingbird 2 Red-bellied Woodpecker 4 American Kestrel 5 Yellow-chevroned Parakeet 30 Mitred Parakeet 2 Eastern Phoebe 1 Loggerhead Shrike 1 Yellow-throated Vireo 1 Blue-headed Vireo 8 Blue Jay 12 Fish Crow 7 Blue-gray Gnatcatcher 5 Gray Catbird 11 Northern Mockingbird 35 European Starling 1 Black-and-white Warbler 1 American Redstart 4 Northern Parula 10 Palm Warbler 3 Pine Warbler 10 Yellow-rumped Warbler 1 Prairie Warbler 4 Northern Cardinal 1 Painted Bunting 6 Common Grackle
