On Christmas I passed by the La Carreta on SW 87 and 40th. There I saw something odd. There was a female boat-tailed grackle surrounded by 5 male bronzed cowbirds. They would take turns displaying in front of the grackle (with no aggression between them). Each would then bow their heads. She would then preen their head and neck. This went on for some time. One less shiny male (or female) bronzed tried to join in and got pecked at by her... Pinetree Park had during a brief, relaxing stop a highly colored Cape May Warblers for the third winter in a row. It is about as colorful as a spring male.
