On Sunday I had three Lesser Nighthawks at dusk by Lucky Hammock. The birds flew low over the road from the south heading north. Also present were Whippoorwill and Chuck-will's-widow. Yesterday and today there have been four to five Franklin's Gulls. These were seen in the flooded fields south of s.w. 268 st. on s.w. 112 ave. After heading south crossing over s.w. 268 st., there is a flooded area on both sides of s.w. 112 ave. about a quarter mile down. There are a lot of gulls here that come and go; Lesser Black-backed, Herring, Ring-billed and the Franklin's. There could be a couple of other species mixed in as they come and go often. These fields will only have water for the next day or two unless we get more rain. The field on the east side of s.w. 112 ave. had Northern Shoveler, Blue-winged Teal, Mottled Duck, Gadwall, Red-breasted Merganser, both yellowlegs, Long-billed Dowitcher, Black-bellied Plover and a lone American Avocet seen yesterday.
