Eighteen birders joined Paul Bithorn and me for today's TAS Miami exotics tour. In spite of street-flooding rain the entire day, we still managed to tally 18 exotic species. Our day began and ended at Doc Thomas House. Locations visited and birds seen included: Matheson Hammock Park - heavy rain; only species of note was a Merlin and lots of White Ibis Daria Feinstein's home in Gables Estates - nice views of her pet macaws, but no wild macaws visited while we were there. Thanks, Daria, as always, for your hospitality and support for Miami's wild parrots! Fuch's Park - Muscovy Duck, Eurasian Collared-Dove Brewer Park (Miller Parrot Roost) - White-winged Dove and a few warblers, Rock Pigeon and European Starling nearby All American Park, South Miami - several Indian Peafowl in nearby yards Shorty's BBQ - Mitred Parakeet, House Sparrow, lunch Kings Creek - Red-whiskered Bulbul, Black-throated Green Warbler Baptist Hospital - Egyptian, Graylag and Swan Geese Country Walk Shopping Center - Monk Parakeet, but no Nanday Parakeets Dolphin Mall - Gray-headed Swamphen, American Bittern Miami Springs - a large parakeet flock that included Crimson-fronted, Scarlet-fronted, Green and White-eyed Parakeets Central Shopping Plaza - Common Myna Ocean Bank - flyover by a small flock of Brotogeris parakeets, not identified to species
