Eighteen birders attended this morning's walk at the Deering Estate, part of their "Deering Goes to the Birds" event. Elias, a Deering naturalist, led us through the restricted areas of the estate. The birding was somewhat slow; highlights included a flock of Pine Warblers in the pine rockland area and a White-crowned Pigeon in the hardwood hammock area. Here's what I recall being seen or heard; I'm sure I'm missing a few species seen before the walk began: Cattle Egret Black Vulture Turkey Vulture Osprey Red-shouldered Hawk White-crowned Pigeon Mourning Dove Mitred Parakeet American Kestrel Red-bellied Woodpecker Eastern Phoebe Great Crested Flycatcher Blue Jay House Wren Blue-gray Gnatcatcher Northern Parula Pine Warbler Black-and-white Warbler Northern Cardinal
