Drove out to the Oasis Visitor Center this morning to see the Mountain Bluebird. It was perching on the wooden fence on the north side of the parking lot, providing wonderful views. I left the bird around 8:30 a.m. and headed west and north to the flooded field at the intersection of CR858 and Oil Well Grade Road. There I found the Cinnamon Teal, 2 male Redheads, and five other duck species. There were huge numbers of Blue-winged Teal (over a thousand), Sandhill Cranes, Roseate Spoonbills, White Pelicans, Long-billed Dowitchers, and many other more common species. A telescope would be useful at this location, which was quite entertaining. The Mountain Bluebird and Cinnamon Teal were both Florida birds for me.
