Today was the second bird walk of the season here at the estate (more info here: http://deeringestate.com/seasonal-tours/). The morning started off gloomy but the parking lot had a small feeding flock keeping us company until we began making our way north along the Chinese Bridge Trail and into the restricted natural area of the estate. Unfortunately the weather caught up with us but not before we managed the list linked below: http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist?subID=S25824083 For those interested, next Saturday, November 21st we will be having our annual Deering Goes to the Birds festival. It will kick off at 7:30am with a walk lead by Brian Rapoza. The main doors will open at 10am where we will have booths manned by several of our peers including Biscayne National Park and the Cape Florida Banding Station. At 1pm there will be a Biscayne Bay pontoon boat ride lead by Carlos Sanchez in search of bay ducks and other marine life. Hope to see you there!
