Dump Marsh consists of three man-made ponds. There's the one just south of the wastewater plant, and two east of that. The northern of those two used to be the most productive one for ducks, and was visible from the levy by walking east from the wastewater plant. But recently the mangroves have grown too tall so the pond is no longer visible. If you notice, the remaining pond has a lot of trees growing along the edge, in a couple years, it too will no longer be visible. Hence, it will be lost in a birding sense. This is the continuing story of birding here in Miami-Dade County, that for various reasons, we are losing birding sites, whether it be do to loss of access, or loss of suitability of the sites for birds.
